Del Rey Cemetery
Comments
1. Navarro, Jennie Q. -
There is only one date listed on the headstone for
this person. It may be the death date or it could be a birth date of a living
person. Because death dates are usually the ones that are placed on headstones,
if only one date is given, that is how it has been listed. In either case,
Jennie shares the headstone with Anita M. Quiroz.
2. Mother and Father -
Possibly husband and wife. The headstones are
identical and both of their names are gone because of erosion.
3. Weston, Levena Maw -
Names and dates have eroded off of the granite stone.
Only the surname Weston is left on the stone. Cemetery records identify Levena
Maw Weston as having been buried in this grave. Personal records of Suzanne
Williams give birth and death dates listed. This headstone is located in: Block
6, Lot 3, Grave 5.
4. Weston, Marie -
This infant grave is located at the foot of the large
Weston stone. Only the name Marie appears with the dates. However, cemetery
records identify Marie with the surname of Weston. This headstone is located
in: Block 6, Lot 3, Grave 6.
5. Vaughan, Billie Frances -
There is smaller detail within each of the points of
the star. Sometimes they are lines, other times they are shapes.
6. Facio, Chris -
Shares headstone w/ Lorraine Facio. There is no
Military marker next to his grave.
7. Davis, John Daniel -
A separate military plaque is placed next to the
headstone. In addition to name and dates associated with birth and death, it
also reads: US Marine Corps
8. Yoshimoto -
This headstone is written entirely in Japanese. 3 of 4
sides have the writing, the back of the headstone being blank. The name and the
language used for this headstone was supplied by the Del Rey/Sanger cemetery
district.
9. Paz, Sliveria G. -
Shares headstone with
Alfredo Paz. The dates are written in identical format. The
place where her death date should be, is blank.
10. Segovia, Michelle Marquez & Lino Marquez -
Each birth date is preceded by a five point star and
each death date is preceded by a Christian cross. The first number in each
of the dates is written using roman numerals. Michelle’s birth date looks
like VI-6-79. Her death date looks like VIII-9-81. Lino’s birth date looks
like VI-5-78 and death date looks like XII-23-81. These two children share
a headstone with one another. “Recuerdo De Sus Padres” is written across the
bottom of the headstone.
