• San Diego Genealogical Society
  

  • Volunteers from the San Diego Genealogical Society will perform San Diego County obituary look-ups in exchange for a small donation ($5 minimum suggested) to the Society.
    
    Requests may be sent by email or by using their Request for Research Assistance form.
    
    The San Diego Genealogical Society currently has volunteers transcribing death and funeral notices from the San Diego Union newspaper clippings beginning with the year 1930.  Data from this project will be posted as soon as it is available.

  • The Newspaper Room on the 2nd floor of the San Diego Public Library's Central Library [820 E Street, San Diego, CA 92101-6478, (619) 236-5835 then press 5] has a large collection of historic San Diego County newspapers on microfilm. These microfilm may be viewed by visiting the library. The library staff will do some lookups. Call or email the Newspaper Room for request requirements and procedures.
