Agnews Cemetery

Formerly on the grounds of the old Agnews State Hospital, an institution for the care and treatment of the mentally ill, which opened in 1889. Now located next to the Sun Microsystems/Agnews Clock Tower Building. Local historical groups worked with Sun to refurbish the historic cemetery and erect a monument to the 112 patients an staff who were killed when the Hospital collapsed during the 1906 earthquake.

The Agnews Historical cemetery has no public access, but the cemetery may be viewed from a platform in the building which will house the musuem.

Alta Mesa Memorial Park was established in 1904 as a non-denominational cemetery. They have seventy-two acres and are a privately owned endowment care cemetery. Office hours 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Hacienda Cemetery - Quicksilver Mining Company

The Hacienda Cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In 1974, it was donated to the Society of The California Pioneers of Santa Clara County who now oversees the cemetery.

Hidalgo Cemetery - Quicksilver Mining Company

The Hidalgo Cemetery, located inside the Almaden Quicksilver County Park, is accessible via hiking trails only, and is the southernmost accessible hillside point in the park. The grave markers are gone, but the cemetery is marked by a white picket fence and Italian cypress trees. A wooden grave marker from the cemetery has been preserved in the Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum.

Laguna Cemetery

The Laguna Cemetery, a two acre historic site, is located on the southeast corner of the Ed R. Levine County Park. The first burials occured in the early 1860s, the last in 1914. Most of it's 44 plots had been sold by 1867. By 1950, only a few headstones remained. Because so many of the headstones are missing, the names and number of those buried in the cemetery is unclear. Destroyed by vandals and neglected for years, it has recently been renovated.

Madronia Cemetery

Madronia Cemetery was established in the 1850s, when Jose Ramon Arguello donated land for a burial ground. The first burial was in 1854. Residents of McCartysville (former name of Saratoga) formed a non-profit cemetery association which they called Madronia, after the red-trunked madrone trees on the site. Among those buried here is Mrs. John (Mary) Brown, widow of Civil War abolitionist, John Brown.

Mission City Memorial Park was established in 1864 and sits on thirty acres. It was first known as Santa Clara Burial Ground, then Santa Clara Protestant Cemetery, then Santa Clara City Cemetery. Many Santa Clara Pioneer families and well known local citizens are buried here, along with a few veterans dating back to the Civil War. A self-guided walking tour with stops at 60 final resting places of important people in the City's history is available (pdf file): Cemetery Walking Tour. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Grounds open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Always searching for information on this cemetery. It is listed in the USGS Geographic Names Information System with coordinates that place it in the Almaden Quicksilver Park (Latitude: 37.17361 Longitude: -121.83861). There is no information on those interred, nor are there any markers on site.

The Stanford Mausoleum, located in the northwest portion of the Stanford University campus in the Stanford University Arboretum, holds the remains of the university's namesake Leland Stanford, Jr. and his parents Leland and Jane Lathrop Stanford. The nearby Angel of Grief Monument marks the grave of Henry Clay Lathrop, brother of Jane.
