Need Help in Santa Cruz County California?

We realize it can be frustrating and confusing to attempt research from afar. The Genealogical Society of Santa Cruz County will be pleased to look up information concerning past residents of Santa Cruz County on your behalf. The GSSCC charges only for researcher time and for miscellaneous expenses (photocopies, etc.).

The charge for researcher time depends on where the desired information can be found. Research starts at the public library, which has a complete collection of old newspapers as well as old city directories and other information sources. The charge for library research time is fifteen dollars ($15.00) per hour or fraction thereof.

If it is necessary to go to the County Court House or to the Special Collections section of the library at the University of California at Santa Cruz, the researcher charge is twenty dollars ($20.00) for the first hour and ten dollars ($10.00) for each hour thereafter.

If you wish us to look up information on your behalf, please send via U.S. mail a query with as much relevant detail as possible. Include your check for $20.00 payable to GSSCC Queries, along with a stamped self-addressed envelope. If further research is required, your authorization will be requested before we proceed.

Only one family surname per inquiry please. Be specific about what Santa Cruz County information you desire--for example; Birth, Death and Burial information on John Jones. A thorough investigation will be made on your behalf.

These researchers are not compensated for their efforts. The contribution you make will be used only to maintain and further expand our open collection of genealogical materials. We will do everything within reason to locate your information.
