A warm and special Thank You to Wallace Miceli - the
former Shasta County Coordinator I am following behind.
I also must thank the former County Coordinator's before Wallace! You know who you are! It has taken me a few weeks to organize, clean 'code' and update these many pages. Through it all, I am amazed at the volume of resource material accumulated over the years to help you, the Shasta County researcher. As a fellow researcher, I wish this kind of data could be found on ALL GenWeb sites! And, with the help of volunteers like these wonderful people, it can happen!
We are here to help you with your family research.

Did you know:The name "Shasta" is derived from the English equivalent for the name of an Indian tribe that once lived in the area. The name of the tribe was spelled in various ways until the present version was used when the county was established. Originally Mt. Shasta was within the county, but it is now part of Siskiyou County, to the north. Its 14,179-foot (4,322 m) peak is visible throughout most of Shasta County.
