WALLACE McM. BROWNLIE
Wallace McM. Brownlie, proprietor of the Central Garage at Vallejo and widely known in the automobile supplies trade throughout this section of the state, was born at Vallejo on July 17, 1890, and is a son of James and Mary (McMillan) Brownlie, both now deceased and the former of whom was for forty years engaged in the grocery business in Vallejo.
Reared at Vallejo, Wallace M. Brownlie was graduated from the high school there in 1909 and was for some time thereafter connected with the radio operations at the Mare Island navy yards. He then went to San Francisco and in that city became engaged in the sale of automobile tires and supplies, a line which he followed in that city until in 1922, when he returned to Vallejo and established himself in the garage business, as proprietor of the Central Garage, accounted the largest of the public garages in the city. Mr. Brownlie has been quite successful in his operations and has an admirable service equipment and every facility for taking care of all demands that may be made upon his establishment.
In 1917, at Hollister, Wallace M. Brownlie was united in marriage to Miss Grace Howie, who was born in Scotland, daughter of James Howie, and who came to California in 1912, and they have one child, a daughter, Grace Mary. Mr. and Mrs. Brownlie are republicans and take a proper interest in the general affairs of the community. Mr. Brownlie is an active member of the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce and of the local Rotary Club and is accounted one of the real leaders in the ranks of the younger business men of Vallejo and of this county. He is a Scottish Rite (32°) Mason and is deeply interested in Masonic affairs.
