THOMAS O. DOWDELL
Thomas O. Dowdell, of Suisun, is superintendent of streets in and for that city and is a dealer in all forms of electrical supplies, being an electrical engineer of years of training and experience. He was born in San Francisco, October 29, 1886, and received his education in the schools of that city. Upon leaving school he took up electrical engineering and in the employ of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company in that city became a competent electrician. In 1912 Mr. Dowdell was sent to Suisun as the local agent of the company and in 1914 was transferred from that station to Berkeley. In the next year he returned to Suisun and has since been engaged in business on his own account, being a dealer in general electrical supplies, including radio. He has the Willard battery service, as well as a lacquer spray service for the finishing of wicker furniture, and also does electric wiring. A conspicuous example of the high quality of his work is revealed in the attractive electrolier lighting system used on the streets of Suisun, which was installed by him. Mr. Dowdell takes an active interest in general municipal affairs, and he is now (1925) serving as superintendent of streets.
Mr. Dowdell was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Isabel Rutherford, who was born at Suisun, and they have two children, Anna Claire and Olive Elizabeth. They are members of the local chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Mr. Dowdell is a Scottish Rite thirty-second degree Mason, affiliated with the consistory at San Francisco and belonging to the lodge of that order at Suisun.
