HON. ROBERT B. McPHERSON
Hon. Robert B. McPherson, who is a veteran of the World war with an officer's commission, represents this district in the general assembly of the state of California and is a consulting engineer with offices at Vallejo. He was born in Calistoga, Napa county, this state December 26, 1891, and is a son of John M. and Mary (Gunn) McPherson, the latter of whom died in 1924. John M. McPherson, for many years one of the well known and substantial citizens of this section of California, is still living at Vallejo, where he has made his home since 1898. He came to California in 1880 and devoted his attention chiefly to mining and to ranching.
Robert B. McPherson completed his early education in the public schools of Vallejo and upon leaving high school entered the University of California, being graduated from that institution with the "war" class in 1917. He enlisted in the aviation section of the army and was presently commissioned a first lieutenant, serving for twenty months. During his attendance at the university he had specialized in engineering, and after some postgraduate work at Leland Stanford University he taught engineering at his alma mater during the term 1918-19, after which he established himself as a consulting engineer at Vallejo. In 1921 he was elected to represent this district in the lower house of the state legislature and in 1923 was reelected. Mr. McPherson is a republican and is regarded as one of the leaders in the junior ranks of that party in this section of the state. His legislative record has been such as to commend him to the people of his district, and his friends predict for him further honors in the field of public service.
Mr. McPherson was united in marriage, at Vallejo, to Miss Edna Gunderson, who was born in that city. He is one of the active members of the local post of the American Legion and is also prominent in the activities of the local Kiwanis Club. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and is likewise affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and with the Improved Order of Red Men.
