RAY M. NUTTING
Biography

Ray M. Nutting, vice president and general manager of the Coronado Garage Company of Vallejo and one of the well known and progressive young business men of that city, was born on a farm in Iowa, March 2, 1899, and is a son of Walter H. and Bertha (Spence) Nutting, who came with their family to California in 1908 and are now living on a ranch in Sonoma county. Mrs. Nutting was a resident of this state prior to her marriage, for she had come here with her parents in 1880, the family settling in Sonoma county. On a visit back to Iowa she married Mr. Nutting and there remained until her return to California in 1908.

Ray M. Nutting was but nine years of age when he came to California with his parents, and he was here reared, completing his education in the commercial high school in San Francisco. He then worked for a while in a Santa Rosa laundry, subsequently buying an interest therein. In the spring of 1918 he disposed of that interest, and on April 18 of that year he became a resident of Vallejo, where he has since made his home. Not long after his arrival he became connected with the local automobile industry and thoroughly familiarized himself with the details of that business, and in 1922 he was elected vice president and general manager of the Coronado Garage Company, Incorporated. He has since been serving in that capacity, during this time having done much to increase the business of the firm, which is located in a well equipped and admirably appointed place at No. 528 Capitol street.

At Palo Alto, this state, Ray M. Nutting was united in marriage to Miss Cora Hughes, who was born in Minnesota, and they have one child, Barbara Jean. Mr. Nutting is a member of the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce and is one of the charter members of the locally influential Kiwanis Club. He also is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
